If you open up Musio and load an instrument but there's no sound, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Check the MIDI Channel in Musio
Open Musio and load an instrument.
In the instrument panel (on the left side of the screen), look for the MIDI Channel setting.
By default, it’s set to “01.” Try changing this to “All.”
If that doesn’t help, try these additional checks:
If your MIDI keyboard has channel settings, change its MIDI channel to match Musio’s channel (for example, “01”).
In your DAW, make sure the instrument track’s input channel matches the same MIDI channel as Musio.
Step 2: Update Musio
Open Musio Connect (Musio’s companion app).
Look in the bottom-left corner for a red Update link.
If an update is available, click it and follow the prompts to install the latest version.
Step 3: Test MIDI Signal with MIDI Monitor
If there’s still no sound, check whether your MIDI controller is sending data correctly.
Download MIDI Monitor (free app).
Open it from your Applications folder.
Press keys on your MIDI controller.
If you see activity, your MIDI controller is working, but Musio may not be receiving the signals.
If you don’t see any activity, your controller might not be sending data. Check your USB or MIDI cable connection and controller settings.
Step 4: Check Audio/MIDI Settings in Standalone Mode
If the above steps don’t fix it, try running Musio in standalone mode (outside your DAW).
Close your DAW completely.
Open Musio (not inside your DAW).
At the top-left corner of your screen, click Settings → Audio/MIDI Settings.
Make sure the Output at the top is set to your interface or speakers.
Make sure your MIDI controller is selected in Active MIDI Inputs.
If you hear sound in standalone mode after adjusting your output, that means the issue may be related to your DAW’s routing or output settings. Please take a screenshot of your Audio/MIDI Settings page and include it in your response to us.
Step 5: Check if Samples Have Finished Loading
Sometimes sound won’t play until the samples are fully loaded.
Look in the top-left corner of Musio for the Memory (global) indicator.
It should increase while your instrument loads. Wait until it finishes before testing sound.
If you still don’t hear anything, please load any instrument from the Catalog, then click the Instrument tab at the top-middle of the screen.
Take a screenshot of the full Musio window.
Then, scroll down in the Instrument tab to show the Mic Positions, and take a second screenshot.
Attach both screenshots to your reply as these will help our Development team investigate.
Step 6: Send Diagnostic Files
To help us dig deeper, please send the Musio log files.
Click the three-line menu (☰) in the top-right corner of Musio.
Select “Submit Feedback.”
Check “Include Log Files” and submit.
