This issue was addressed with a fix in a recent Musio update, so the first step is to make sure you’re on the latest version:
Step 1: Update Musio to the Latest Version
- Open Musio Connect (Musio’s companion app).
- Look in the bottom-left corner for a red Update link.
- If it appears, click it and follow the prompts to install the latest version of Musio.
After updating, open Musio again and check if the issue is resolved.
Step 2: Check Sample Location Permissions
Sometimes, this error can happen if Musio doesn’t have permission to write to your sample library location. To check this:
- Open Musio Connect.
- Click Instruments in the top-left menu.
- Look at the path listed under Samples Location at the top of the window.
Then, make sure that folder has Read & Write permissions. To check that, please follow the steps in this article (depending on your operating system) to grant read & write permissions at this location.
Step 3: Check the Temporary Downloads Location
- In Musio Connect, go to Settings.
- Under the Downloads section, look at your Temporary Downloads Location.
Is it set to the default location?
-
Mac default:
/Users/Shared/Musio Connect/Musio Downloads -
Windows default:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Musio Connect\Musio Downloads
If it’s set to a custom location, try switching back to one of the defaults and restarting Musio.
Step 4: Are You Using Multiple User Accounts?
Sometimes permission issues can occur if:
- You’re using a standard account instead of an admin account, or
- You installed Musio from one user account but are using it on another.
- If so, please try using the admin account or whichever account Musio was installed on.
