If you see the message "No Catalog Available" when opening Musio, it usually means Musio Connect is not running or cannot read the sample drive. Try the steps below to resolve the issue.
1. Enable Auto-Launch for Musio Connect
Musio requires Musio Connect to run in the background. If Musio Connect does not launch automatically, you may see this error.
To enable auto-launch:
Open Musio Connect
Click Settings
Under System, enable Launch Musio Connect At Startup
This ensures Musio Connect starts automatically whenever you restart your computer, which helps prevent this issue from returning.
2. Check Hard Drive Access Permissions
If your sample content is stored on an external drive, the drive must allow read and write access.
On macOS:
Right click the drive in Finder and choose Get Info
Scroll to Sharing & Permissions
Under Privilege, make sure your user account says Read & Write
If it is set to Read Only, please change it to Read & Write, then reopen Musio. If you see Custom Access, macOS may be limiting Musio’s ability to read or write to the drive.
3. Test With a Different Samples Location
To determine whether the issue is caused by the external drive or by Musio, you can temporarily move your samples to a different drive.
Open Musio Connect
Select Instruments
In the top right, find your current Samples Location
-
Click Move and choose one of the following:
Your internal system drive, or
A different external drive with full read and write permissions
If Musio works after moving the samples, the original drive was likely the cause of the issue. Let us know at support@musio.com if this resolves it for you or if the issue continues. We are happy to help!
