This error typically occurs if the version of Musio on your computer is outdated and cannot load the instrument you’re trying to download. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Update Musio
- Open Musio Connect (Musio’s companion app).
- Check for a red Update link in the bottom-left corner.
- If an update is available, click the link and install the latest version of Musio.
Step 2: Check for Version Mismatch
If the issue persists after updating, Musio and Musio Connect may be on different versions. Both apps must be on the same version to work together.
-
Check Musio’s version:
- Open Musio, click the three-line menu in the top-right corner, and find the version number at the bottom.
-
Check Musio Connect’s version:
- Open Musio Connect, and locate the version number at the bottom-left corner.
If the version numbers are different, proceed with a fresh reinstall as outlined below.
Step 3: Perform a Fresh Reinstall
For Windows:
- Open the Start menu and search for Add or Remove Programs.
- Under Apps and Features, locate Musio, then select Uninstall.
For macOS:
-
Use this Musio macOS uninstaller app.
-
Note: this will only work on Musio v1.38.8 or above.
- Use the previous macOS uninstaller if on an earlier version of Musio.
- If neither macOS uninstaller apps work on your OS, follow these manual uninstall instructions.
-
Note: this will only work on Musio v1.38.8 or above.
After uninstalling, log in to portal.musio.com and click one of the installer buttons in the top-right corner to reinstall Musio.
Step 4: Check Your External Drive
If you’re still getting this error message after updating and reinstalling, and you’re using an external drive, this error may be caused by lower read/write speeds or reliability issues. Try these steps:
- Uninstall Musio again using the steps above.
- When reinstalling, choose either an internal drive on your computer or a more reliable external drive than the one pointed to previously.
- Test if the error is resolved with this new setup.
