This error occurs when Musio is unable to access certain paths due to limited write permissions on your system or external hard drive. Follow the steps below based on whether you’re using a personal computer or a managed machine:
For Personal Computers
If you're on a PC, please click here for steps on how to check your permission settings.
If you’re on a Mac personal computer, let’s check your permission settings with these steps:

Navigate to the Musio Connect Folder
- Click on a blank spot on your desktop.
- In the top menu, select Go -> Go To Folder…
- Paste this path into the box and hit Enter: /Users/Shared/Musio Connect/

Update Permissions for macOS
- Right-click the Musio Connect folder and select Get Info.

Scroll to the Sharing & Permissions section at the bottom.
- If this section isn’t visible, click the small arrow to expand it.

Look for your username in the Name column.
- If it says Read Only or No Access, click the privilege setting and change it to Read & Write.

Apply Changes
- Once updated, close the info panel and try using Musio again.
This should resolve the issue!
For Managed Machines
If you’re using a managed computer (such as one with IT or administrator restrictions), the permissions may be controlled by your organization.

Contact Your IT Admin
- Ask your IT administrator to give you Read & Write permissions for the computer and/or external hard drive where Musio is installed.

Verify Access
- Once permissions are updated, retry the installation or update process in Musio.
