This error message appears when Musio cannot access the folder where your samples are stored. Here’s how to fix it:
Step 1: Check the Samples Location
- Open Musio Connect (Musio’s companion app).
- Click on Instruments and look at the Samples Location at the top of the page.
-
Confirm the following:
- This path points to the correct folder where your samples are stored.
- This folder has sufficient free space (we recommend 200–500 GB, depending on how many instruments you’ve downloaded and/or plan to download).
- The folder has full read/write permissions. Here’s how to check disk permissions.
Step 2: Try a Different Samples Location
- If the above doesn’t help, change the Samples Location to a different folder, such as one on your computer’s internal drive or another external hard drive by clicking the red “Move…” button.
- Attempt to install the instruments again. If the instruments install correctly in the new location, the issue is likely related to the previous drive or folder (e.g., permissions or hardware issues).
Step 3: Decide Whether to Keep the New Location
- If the new location works and you’re happy to keep it there: The issue is resolved—no further action is needed!
- If you want to fix the original location: Please contact our Support team at support@musio.com. Please include:
- A description of the issue and the steps you’ve already tried.
- Your operating system and version and your digital audio workstation (DAW) and version.
-
Log files from Musio (these help us investigate the problem). Here’s how to send those:
- Open Musio and click the three-line menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Submit Feedback.
- Check the Include Log Files box, and the logs will be sent directly to us. Thank you!
