This error can occur when Musio or its companion app, Musio Connect, encounters issues accessing certain files or locations. Let’s work through a few simple steps to resolve it:
Step 1: Check the Temporary Downloads Location
This issue often arises if the Temporary Downloads path is set to an external drive that has recently been re-mounted or altered.
- Open Musio Connect (Musio’s companion app).
- Navigate to Settings → Downloads.
-
Change the Temporary Downloads Location to a folder on your Mac’s internal drive.
- Don’t worry about space—this folder is temporary and automatically cleaned up.
Most of the time, this will resolve the issue. If it doesn’t, try the additional steps below.
Step 2: Repair Instruments
- Open Musio Connect and go to the Instruments page.
- Select the instrument with the issue and click Repair on the right-hand side.
- Once that instrument is repaired, go to Instruments → Verify Instruments → Repair All to ensure all instruments are fixed.
Step 3: Update Musio
- Open Musio Connect.
- Check for a red update link in the bottom-left corner.
- If you see the update link, click it to install the latest version.
Step 4: Check Security Settings (macOS Only)
If you’re on macOS, ensure Musio has Full Disk Access permissions:
- Open System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy.
- Select Full Disk Access from the sidebar.
- Unlock the settings by clicking the lock icon and entering your Mac password.
-
Make sure Musio and Musio Connect are listed:
- If they’re not, click the + icon and add them from Applications > Musio / Musio Connect.
- Lock the settings, restart your Mac, and try again.
