When you download an instrument in Musio, two steps happen behind the scenes to ensure fast downloads:
- Temporary File Creation
A compressed zip file is created and stored in the location set for Temporary Downloads in Musio Connect (Musio’s companion app).
- File Extraction and Final Download
The zip file is automatically opened, and its contents are extracted and downloaded to the location you set for Samples Location in Musio Connect.
This error message, “The system cannot find the file specified,” means Musio is unable to complete step #1 because it can’t access the Temporary Downloads location. This often happens if the location doesn’t have the right permissions or “write access.”
How to Fix the Issue
Follow these steps to set a new, accessible location for Temporary Downloads:
- Open Musio Connect
Launch the Musio Connect app- Mac: CMD+Spacebar and type in Musio Connect
- Windows: Open the search bar in the Start Menu and type in Musio Connect
- Click Settings.
- Change the Temporary Downloads Location
- Under the Downloads section at the top, find Temporary Downloads Location.
- Click the red ... button to the right.
- Choose a folder that you know is accessible and “writeable,” like your My Documents folder on your computer’s internal drive. Don’t worry about space—this folder is temporary and cleaned up automatically.
- Save Your Changes
Click Save at the bottom right. - Retry the Download
Go back to Musio and try downloading the instrument again.
