If you’re seeing the error message "Waiting For Musio Connect" or something similar (such as "Looking for Musio Connect..."), this guide will explain why the message appears and how to resolve it:
Why Am I Seeing This Error?
Musio Connect is the companion application to Musio. It runs in the background and:
- Manages your Musio downloads and instrument content.
- Validates your subscription or license.
- Connects Musio to the cloud-based catalog.
- Provides workflow options for you to manage the Musio settings and preferences, etc.
If the connection between Musio and Musio Connect is lost, Musio can no longer perform these vital functions, causing this error message to appear.
How to Fix This Issue
First, close your digital audio workstation (DAW) and then follow these steps to restore the connection between Musio and Musio Connect:
1. Manually Launch Musio Connect
-
On macOS:
- Press CMD + Spacebar, type "Musio Connect", and launch it.
- Or, go to Macintosh HD → Applications → Musio Connect and open it.
-
On Windows:
- Click the Start Menu, type "Musio Connect", and open it.
Important: Keep Musio Connect open while you work (you can minimize it in the background).
2. Enable Auto-Launch for Musio Connect
If the issue happens again, Musio Connect might not be launching automatically.
To enable auto-launch:
- Open Musio Connect.
- Click Settings.
- Under the System section, enable "Launch Musio Connect At Startup".
This ensures Musio Connect starts automatically whenever your computer is restarted.
3. Check Storage Space for Musio Samples
If the steps above didn’t help, there’s a few more things we can check. Musio may not function properly if your Samples Location (where your samples are being stored) doesn’t have enough free space. To check:
- Open Musio Connect and go to the Instruments tab.
- Look for the Samples Location path (at the top middle of the window).
- Ensure there is enough free space (we recommend 200-500 GB, depending on how many instruments you’ve downloaded and want to download).
- Make sure the folder has read & write permissions.
4. Check Temporary Downloads Location
Musio also uses a Temporary Downloads folder, which needs enough storage and the correct permissions. To check:
- Open Musio Connect.
- Click Settings.
- Under the Downloads section, find the Temporary Downloads Location.
- Ensure this location has sufficient free space and read & write permissions.
5. Check Your Antivirus or Firewall
Antivirus or firewall software may block Musio Connect from launching properly. If you have antivirus or firewall software running, whitelist the following:
- Musio
- Musio Connect
- r2.cloudflarestorage.com (Musio’s download service)
6. Reinstall Musio
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling Musio. To do this:
- Follow the uninstallation instructions in this guide.
- Then, log into portal.musio.com and click one of the installer buttons in the top right corner to reinstall Musio.
