Note: This issue is specifically when Musio Connect crashes instantly upon opening every time. If Musio Connect is not crashing instantly on opening it, but you are getting a "Waiting For Musio Connect" error message, or you just had a single Musio Connect crash, that is a separate issue. Please find solutions for that in this Help Center article.
Step 1: Delete The Musio Connect Settings File
If Musio Connect is crashing instantly every time you open it, please find the following file on your system and delete it:
- Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Musio Connect/Musio Connect Settings.config
- Windows: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Musio Connect\Musio Connect Settings.config
Afterwards, try to launch Musio and Musio Connect and see if the issue is fixed.
Step 2: Delete The Database File
If that didn't work, please also find the following Database file on your system and delete it:
- Mac: /Users/Shared/Musio Connect/Musio.db
- Windows: C:\ProgramData\Musio Connect\Musio.db
Step 3: Reset Your Samples Location & Repair All Instruments
If that worked, and you previously set your Samples Location to a custom folder (not the default), you will now need to re-set it.
Reset Your Samples Location
Open Musio Connect.
Click Instruments in the center of the window.
At the top, locate Samples Location.
Click the red Move… button.
Point it to the folder where your Musio samples are stored.
Verify and Repair All Instruments
Open Musio Connect.
In the top left corner, click the Instruments menu.
Select Verify Instruments.
Then select Repair All Instruments.
If that worked, you're all set!
Step 4: Install The Latest Version
If the steps above didn't work, try installing the latest version of Musio:
- Log in at portal.musio.com
- Click the Account tab in the top left corner
- Click the Download Musio tab
- Click the downloader button for your OS
- Follow the prompts to install Musio again
- See if Musio and Musio Connect now opens.
Step 5: Send Logs
If Musio Connect is still crashing instantly, please send crash logs so our team can investigate further.
On Mac:
- Open Console (Press Cmd + Spacebar and search for “Console”).
- In the left sidebar, click Crash Reports.
- Look for crash logs with Musio or Musio Connect in the name (they usually end in .ips).
- Right-click the crash log and select Reveal in Finder.
- Attach the crash log file(s) to an email addressed to our Support team at support@musio.com.
If you don’t see any crash logs, you can also send us Musio Connect logs:
-
Go to:
~/Library/Logs/Musio Connect
If you’re working in Logic Pro, also include this file if it’s available:
- AUHostingServiceXPC_arrow
On Windows:
- Ensure Musio is running.
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Go to the Details tab and find Musio Connect or Musio.
- Right-click the application, and select Create dump file.
- A progress window will appear, and once the file is created it will display the path with an option to open that location.
- Open that location, and then locate the dump file (e.g.: Musio Connect.DMP). This file should be at least 100 MB in size.
- The file will likely be large (200 MB or so), so it might not attach to your email. Instead, you can share the file with us via Dropbox, Google Drive, or another file sharing service and send the link to support@musio.com.
Also, please include the following in your email to us:
- Your Windows OS version.
Contact Support:
Please send an email to support@musio.com with those crash logs attached and let us know what happened and we’ll take a close look at the logs and files you send and work to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!
