Musio now allows you to start a free trial of select sample library collections directly inside the Musio app. This makes it easy to test a library before you purchase it, without having to leave your DAW or switch to a website.
In-Plugin Trials provide full, unrestricted access to a sample library collection in Musio for 3 days. They can be activated instantly and only once per library. This article will walk you through how to activate and use these trials.
How In-Plugin Trials Work
1. Find a library in the Musio catalog that offers a free trial
When you open a sample library in Musio that you do not own, it will appear dimmed and you will not be able to use the instruments. If a trial is available, you will see a Start Trial button under the library image. This means a free 3 day trial is offered for that library.
2. Click Start Trial
After clicking Start Trial, a pop up will appear that says:
"Would you like to begin a trial of [Library Name]? The library will be freely available without restriction for 3 days, and can only be redeemed once."
3. Confirm the trial
Click Start Trial again to activate it. The library will immediately unlock and you will see the message “Trial activated!” The instruments will no longer be dimmed, and you can download and use any of them right away.
Under the library image, you will now see:
“Trial Active (Expires [date and time])”
4. Explore
During the 3 day trial, you have full access to the library collection. You can compose, edit, and bounce to audio as usual.
5. When the trial ends
The expiration date and time you see in Musio is based on your local timezone. Once your 3 day period is over, the text under the library image will change to:
“Trial Expired”
You will also receive an email letting you know the trial license has ended. If you want to keep using the library, you can click the “View and purchase on the Musio Marketplace” button under the library image, or you can go to musio.com/marketplace to purchase it there.
FAQs
Can I start a trial more than once?
No. Each trial for a specific library collection can be redeemed only one time per account.
What happens to my project if my trial expires?
Your DAW will still load your project, but any Musio instrument from an expired trial will be unavailable until the library is purchased in the Musio Marketplace.
Are trials available on all plans?
Yes. Trials are available to all Musio users regardless of subscription level or perpetual license ownership.
Can I download all instruments from the library in the trial?
Yes. Once the trial is active, you have full access to download and use all instruments in the library for the duration of the trial.
Does starting a trial automatically subscribe me or charge me?
No. Trials are free and do not convert into a purchase automatically. When the trial ends, access simply expires unless you choose to buy the library in the Marketplace.
Can I have multiple trials active at the same time?
Yes. You can activate as many separate library trials as you want. Each library has its own 3 day trial timer.
If I purchase the library after my trial, do I need to reinstall anything?
No. Once you purchase the library, it will unlock in Musio. Any instruments you already downloaded during the trial will continue working.
I don’t see any trials available for any libraries in Musio.
Please update Musio to the latest version by opening Musio Connect (Musio’s companion app) and clicking the red update link in the bottom left hand corner.
