Some users have asked about using Musio with electronic drum kits or pads. While Musio doesn't officially support this feature yet, we can offer some rough guidance on how to potentially make it work. Below are answers to some common questions we’ve received, along with some potential workarounds.
How Do I Map the Drum Kits in Musio to My Electronic Drum Kit?
At the moment, Musio does not support remapping the key mappings for electronic drum kits. However, there are some ways to work around this limitation:
- Customize the notes sent from your electronic drum pad/kit, if possible.
- Use a MIDI insert or MIDI transformer in your DAW to remap pitches as needed.
- If your electronic drum kit has a "General MIDI" mode, it should align with the key mappings used in Musio by default.
How Can I Separate Each Drum Element from Musio Into Different Audio Tracks?
While Musio doesn’t officially support routing each drum element to a separate audio track at this time, here’s a workaround that worked for one of our team members:
- Load the drumset multiple times into Musio each with the next MIDI channels and audio output (1x instance per separate drum output desired).
- Then, use your DAW’s MIDI-transformer capabilities to map different MIDI notes to different MIDI channels (this team member used the Scripter MIDI plugin in Logic, for example).
