Musio 1 has been an important part of the Musio journey. Starting October 12th, 2025, Musio 1 will no longer be sold to new users.
If you already own Musio 1, don’t worry as nothing changes for you. You keep exactly what you have now, permanently. This article explains what this transition means and answers the most common questions.
Q: What exactly was Musio 1?
A: Musio originally began as either a monthly or annual subscription. While many users enjoyed (and still enjoy) having access to so many instruments for a lower price point through the subscription, we also heard from other users who preferred perpetual licenses (owning their licenses permanently). That’s why we created the Musio Marketplace, where you can buy perpetual licenses to individual libraries, and also Musio 1, which was a perpetual license bundle version of Musio that included all the Cinesamples content added to it through the end of 2024.
Musio 1 contained 2,300+ virtual instruments across more than 100 sample library collections, ranging from orchestral to world, percussion, synths, and more.
Q: Why is Musio 1 no longer being sold?
A: We have shifted our focus to the Musio Marketplace (individual perpetual purchases) and Musio+ Complete (subscription) to give users more choice on what they want to purchase than ever before. With the Marketplace, you can now purchase any single library as a perpetual license, including all the Cinesamples collections and, for the first time, instruments from third-party developers as well. This means you no longer need to buy a huge bundle (like Musio 1) if you only want specific libraries.
Q: I own Musio 1. Does this mean my Musio 1 license will stop working after October 12th, 2025?
A: No. Your Musio 1 license is perpetual. You own it permanently and it will continue to work.
Q: Will I lose access to the Musio 1 instruments I already own?
A: No. All the instruments you currently have will remain available in your account.
Q: Will I still get updates for Musio 1?
A: Yes. Musio 1 will continue to receive:
- Application updates (bug fixes, performance improvements, etc.).
- New features to improve the app experience.
New instruments will not be added automatically to Musio 1. However, if you’d like new instruments to add to your collection, you can optionally purchase them individually in the Musio Marketplace.
Q: What happens if I need to reinstall Musio 1 or my instruments in the future?
A: You’ll still be able to re-download and reinstall both the app and your licensed instruments through your account.
Q: If I get a new computer, can I still activate Musio 1 on it?
A: Yes. Your perpetual license can be activated on new systems. Please see this article for more information.
Q: How long will customer support help me if I have issues with Musio 1?
A: Musio 1 remains fully supported by our team.
Q: I’m a new customer and heard about Musio 1. Since it’s no longer for sale, what should I get instead?
A: You have two great options:
Musio+ Complete - A monthly or annual subscription that gives you access to everything in Musio, plus all new instruments added automatically to your account.
Musio Marketplace - You can purchase individual libraries as perpetual licenses with a one-time payment, so you’ll own them permanently without a recurring payment.
Q: How much disk space does Musio 1 take up?
A: It is difficult to pinpoint an exact number as It depends on how many instruments you download and how many microphone positions for those instruments you download. We typically recommended having about 200-500 GBs available, but if you downloaded absolutely every instrument and every microphone position available, it could be up to ~1 TB.

Q: What happened to Musio 2?
A: When Musio 1 first launched, we did mention that something like a Musio 2 upgrade might happen in the future. At the time, Musio was still very new, and we were exploring different possibilities for how the platform might grow.
Right now, our focus is on Musio Marketplace rather than creating a second perpetual collection like Musio 2. The Marketplace lets us release new libraries the moment they’re ready, and it gives you more flexibility as you can add just the instruments you want as perpetual licenses, without waiting for a future bundle.
For you if you are a Musio 1 owner:
- Your license remains a complete collection of 2,300+ instruments across 100+ libraries.
- New libraries will be available through the Marketplace, rather than bundled into a “Musio 2” package.
- You’ll have the option to grow your collection at your own pace with individual perpetual licenses.
We know this is a shift, and we appreciate you raising the question. Our goal is to keep Musio evolving while making sure Musio 1 owners like you always have a path to expand your collection in the way that works best for you.
Closing Notes
Musio 1 was an important part of our journey, and we’re so grateful to everyone who chose it. If you own Musio 1 currently, rest assured:
- Your Musio 1 instruments are safe and will continue to work.
- You’ll keep receiving app and feature updates.
- Support is still available anytime you need it.
At the same time, you now have more flexibility than ever before. Instead of waiting for a future bundle of collections annually, you can purchase new individual libraries as they’re released, only the ones you want, when you want them in the Marketplace.
If you have any other questions, please reach out to us at support@musio.com. Thank you!
