You can use one Musio license on up to three computers simultaneously. Follow these steps to set Musio up on additional computers:
Installing Musio on Another Computer
-
Log In to Your Account
- On your second (or third) computer, go to portal.musio.com and log in with your account credentials.
-
Download and Install Musio
- Click on the Account tab in the top left.
- Click the Download Musio tab.
- Choose the installer for your operating system (Mac or Windows) and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Note: You do not need to re-enter your license code on the new computer.
-
Log Into Musio
- Open Musio on the new computer and login using the same email address and password as before.
You're all set! However, if you'd like to access instruments you previously downloaded on another computer, follow the steps below:
Triggering Instrument Downloads
Scenario 1: Instruments Were Installed In the Default Location
If you downloaded instruments on your first computer to the default location (your computer’s internal drive), Musio on the new computer won’t have access to that audio content. The fastest way to restore your previously used sounds is to open a previous DAW session that contains Musio tracks with instruments loaded as those instruments will automatically re-download.
Scenario 2: Samples Were Stored On an External Drive
If you previously changed your Samples Location to store instruments on an external drive and you’d like to use those same instruments:
- Connect the external hard drive to your new computer.
- Reset the Samples Location:
- Open Musio Connect (Musio’s companion app).
- Click Instruments.
- Click the red Move... button and select the folder where your samples were stored previously.
Even though the audio content is already there, Musio still needs to re-trigger the instrument downloads so they appear as “downloaded” in the app. To re-trigger the downloads:
Option 1: Open a previous DAW session
- Open a DAW project where you previously used Musio. The instruments in that session should automatically re-link to your existing files.
- Tip: If they don’t automatically re-download, open Musio Connect, go to Settings, enable Auto-Download Unavailable Instruments, click Save, then reopen your DAW session.
Option 2: Manually reload instruments
- Find the instruments you used before in the Catalog and click Load. If the content is already on your drive, and the Samples Location in Musio Connect is pointed there, they’ll load almost instantly without requiring a full re-download.
We're working to make this process smoother in future updates. Thank you for your patience in the meantime!
