While Musio was designed to work as a plugin within digital audio workstations (DAWs), some users have successfully integrated it with notation software. If you’d like to test Musio with your notation program of choice, we recommend signing up for the free 7-day trial. Just visit www.musio.com/pricing and click "Try it Free".
Programs
Finale
Finale has been discontinued as a product, so we cannot guarantee Musio will work with it. The best way to check is to download the 7-day free trial at musio.com and test it with your version of Finale.
Notion
Musio does not work with Notion at this time. Notion does not support VST3, which is the format Musio uses. We hope this changes in the future!
Staffpad
Staffpad is a notation app for iPad and Windows tablets that allows users to handwrite notation with a stylus. Musio is not officially supported in Staffpad at this time, but you’re welcome to test it using the 7-day free trial.
Sibelius
Musio will not work with Sibelius natively as Sibelius does not support VST3 plug-ins.
There was a workaround for this and that was to use a third party software called NotePerformer that, with its Playback Engines system, allowed you to run VST3 plugins in Sibelius. However, in May 2025, NotePerformer had to end support for this and you can read their statement about that here.
If you previously purchased NotePerformer 4 engines, you can still use it as the license is indefinite. If you own it, you may click here to downgrade to version 4.5.1 to continue using them. However, NotePerformer will no longer offer Playback Engines for sale, and the technology will no longer receive updates so new users cannot purchase this older version.
Musio unfortunately has no control over the situation so we recommend reaching out to NotePerformer's support here if you have any additional questions about it: https://www.noteperformer.com/?page=support. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Dorico
Musio should work with Dorico as Dorico does support VST3 plug-ins like Musio.
We did use to recommend using NotePerformer with Dorico but please see the information just above this section under "Sibelius" to see the final status update on NotePerformer's Playback Engines.
If you want to load Musio directly into Dorico, we suggest watching this official Dorico YouTube tutorial on adding third-party plugins. For further assistance, we recommend contacting Dorico customer support, as our ability to provide support for third-party software is limited.
MuseScore
Musio is not officially supported in MuseScore, but you can test it yourself by downloading the 7-day free trial at musio.com.
