How do I change the default location for downloads?
To change the location where Musio samples are stored, first make sure all Musio instances are closed. Open Musio Connect by itself and select Instruments. In the top right corner you will see the current Samples Location. Select Move… to select a different location. Your current samples will be moved to the new location and all future downloads will be stored there.
To change the location for Musio to download temporary files to, open Musio Connect and select Settings. Click on the … button next to Downloads Location to change this location, and then Save at the bottom.
Note: if you choose to point both the Samples Location and Downloads Location options to the same place on your drive, a Musio Connect folder will automatically be created with two folders inside of it: Musio Downloads, where the temporary files will be stored, and Musio Samples, where your permanent samples are stored.
How can I move samples to a new download location?
To move your samples to a new download location, first make sure all Musio instances are closed. If you're not sure if a Musio instance is open, first go to the Instances page in Musio Connect and make sure that page is blank.
Next, open Musio Connect and select Instruments. You will see a list of the instruments you have downloaded, as well as the current Samples Location displayed in the top right corner. Select Move… to choose a new location to move your current downloads and all future downloads to.
Where can I see all of my downloaded Instruments?
You can see a list of the instruments you have downloaded by opening Musio Connect and selecting Instruments. This list will also show you the Version, Collection, Size, and Status of your downloads. If you select an individual instrument, you will be able to see more details. You can change the location of these downloads by selecting Samples Location.
How can I uninstall downloaded instruments from my system?
To uninstall an instrument you have downloaded with Musio, open Musio Connect and select Instruments. You will see a list of the instruments you have downloaded. Highlight the instrument you would like to uninstall by selecting it, and an additional window will open to the right with more information about the instrument. At the bottom, there will be an option to Uninstall.
I am getting the message "Sample pool migration is currently unavailable" while trying to move my samples.
This error message will occur if there are active processes happening within Musio while you are trying to move your samples. Please make sure that no Musio instances are connected or open. You can double check that all Musio instances are closed by going to the Instances page in Musio Connect. This page will need to be blank for the sample migration to work.
Then, go to the Instruments page within Musio Connect and make sure that you are not installing, uninstalling, or verifying any instruments at the moment. If there are any processes running, allow them to complete before moving any samples. After all activities have stopped and any Musio instances have been closed, you will be able to successfully move your samples.
What happens to my instruments if I update or reinstall Musio?
Instruments will stay on your system unless you delete them. You will need to download updates to the instruments versions, but sample content will only download when samples are updated. Windows users please note: if you select Clean Install when reinstalling, this will restore all of your settings back to default, including your sample location, so if you have a custom sample location selected make sure that Clean Install is not checked during the reinstall to keep that location.
What should I do if Musio isn't recognizing my downloaded samples?
Musio may no longer recognize your samples as downloaded if your sample location has been renamed, removed, or if the folder has been moved manually through Finder or File Explorer. To avoid this, please make sure to use the "Move..." button in Musio Connect > Instruments to change the location of your files. If you are a Windows user and have selected "Clean Install" during reinstall, this will reset your sample location to default but will not remove your downloaded instruments.
If your instruments are no longer recognized but still exist on your system, please open Musio Connect and go to Instruments. Set the sample location at the top back to the folder where your instruments are stored. After opening Musio, it will still show these instruments as available to download. When you select the download button, Musio will first check the sample location for that instrument and will simply load it into the rack without downloading again, and the instrument will be marked as downloaded. A quick way to get around this is to open a session or project file that had Musio loaded, and all of your Musio instruments in that session will automatically load for you.
Is there a way to download all of the instruments at once?
One of Musio’s benefits is that you don’t have to download an entire collection to use one instrument, saving you time and storage space. Because of this, we recommend downloading instruments as you need them. If you would like to download multiple instruments at the same time, Musio will allow you to do so, though you will need to select the download button for each instrument individually.
If I pause or cancel my Monthly or Annual Subscription, can I still use the Instruments I had in an old project?
If Musio Connect sees that your subscription is inactive, you will not be able to load instruments into the instrument rack or download new content. You will still be able to browse the catalog and see what is present, but until your subscription is reactivated you will not be able to load or play any Instruments. Previous sessions will not load the Instruments into the rack, but your saved data will be preserved, so if you reactivate your subscription and later reopen the session everything will load in normally.
