If you're experiencing random volume spikes in Musio, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check MIDI Fader Settings in Cubase
If you're using Cubase as your digital audio workstation (DAW), the MIDI fader might be causing the issue. Cubase's MIDI fader (CC7) can control volume levels, potentially overriding settings in Musio. Here's how to resolve this:
- Set the MIDI fader to OFF to prevent it from affecting Musio’s volume slider.
- Ensure the fader is set to OFF and not just 0, as 0 could still be interpreted as a value by Musio.
Refer to the screenshot below to confirm the correct setting:
2. Check for Errant MIDI CC Data or Automation
If the issue persists, or if you’re using a DAW other than Cubase:
- Examine your track for MIDI CC data or automation information, especially CC7, which directly controls Musio's volume slider.
- Delete any unwanted CC7 data from the track and test if the problem is resolved.
3. Test with and Without Pedals
If you’re using a sustain or expression pedal (e.g., Roland EV5), some users have reported it may inadvertently cause volume spikes.
- Try unplugging the pedal to see if the spikes stop.
